The ...My 7 year old son also has an appendicostomy. The first few months were difficult with similar issues of fighting when we placed the tubing. He also has Down Syndrome so he was unable to communicate his issues to us. We found several things helped: we let him help insert the tubing, he helps set up the supplies beforehand, he likes to remove the tubing when finished and through trial and error we found that he prefers the tube to be inserted while sitting on the toilet versus lying on the floor.
